A Personal Message from WEDA President and CEO, Mary Perry

Dear Valued WEDA Members:

An official announcement is coming soon, but I wanted to personally reach out to you before it becomes public. It is with mixed emotions that I announce my decision to retire from WEDA at the end of this month. Leading WEDA over the past years has been the privilege of a lifetime.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your dedication to making Wisconsin a great place to live and work, and for all we have accomplished together as a member-led organization. I take immense pride in witnessing hundreds of you grow professionally through our basic economic development courses, participation in conferences, and our Academy series.

While I will miss the day-to-day interactions with our treasured members and generous investors, who are the lifeblood of WEDA, I won’t be a stranger. I look forward to seeing you at events next year and continuing our relationship. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, and you all will always hold a special place in my heart.

As I enter this new chapter of my life, I am excited about spending quality time with my family and pursuing activities that have been on hold. I am also pleased to share that WEDA has developed a solid succession plan to ensure a smooth transition. In the short term, Kathryn Berger will act as interim president and CEO. Kathryn has been an invaluable member of our board, demonstrating exceptional servant leadership. She brings a wealth of experience from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and she will be instrumental in guiding WEDA through this transitional period.

In closing, please continue the good work you do in all of your communities – and pay it forward. WEDA is member-driven and needs your active participation to keep moving Wisconsin forward!

Wishing you all the best,
