Community Development Coordinator
The Community Development Coordinator performs work providing administrative and critical tasks to support the operation and functionality of the Community Development Department both internally and externally. The department includes economic development, planning & zoning, engineering, building inspections and code enforcement. The position includes director support, department coordination, grant support, administrative tasks, social media and outreach, data entry, coordination of record systems, and customer service. In addition, support of economic development tasks including coordination of the River Falls Economic Development Corporation, the Business Retention and Expansion Program, the customer relations management software (CRM) and special projects and events. This position will also provide support in special project assistance that includes research, analysis, presentation, and recommendations and will lead communications for the Department. This position may assist staff with Boards/Commissions and as such, evening meetings may be required. Work requires initiative, creativity, attention to detail, independent judgment, confidentiality and discretion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supports the Community Development Director through Department coordination, the preparation of letters, responding to inquiries, memorandums, research reports, legislative analysis, and handling of special projects.
- Performs administrative functions including support of annual reports, budgets, Community Development website management, and records coordination.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, resolutions, presentations, ordinances, agendas, minutes, and public hearing notices for Boards/Commissions.
- Prepare reports, collect data, conduct research, and manage projects as assigned.
- Answer questions from the public; responds to inquiries from employees, citizens and others, and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons.
- Assist with the coordination of the River Falls Economic Development Corporation including meeting agendas and minutes, and finances via Quickbooks.
- Provides day to day management of customer service management software including data entry and monitoring internal use.
- Supports the Business Retention and Expansion program logistics to increase and expand the program.
- Identifies, writes and administers grants.
- Assists planning team with planning projects, community outreach, research, survey preparation and tabulation, marketing materials.
- Performs work of a confidential nature.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), SharePoint, Munis, Publisher; ability to learn online products to fit department needs.
- Publication design and/or graphic design experience.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Minimum
- Two-year associate degree or a minimum of 60 semester full accredited college-level credits.
- One to two years of experience in the field of community development, economic development, redevelopment, planning, municipal government or related field.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, Community and Regional Planning or related field.

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment that requires:

- Operate office equipment requiring repetitive finger/hand movement
Work performed outside the office environment may include:
