Rep. Randy Udell Recognized as a WEDA Champion of Economic Development

The Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) recently presented state Rep. Randy Udell (D-Fitchburg) with its Champion of Economic Development Award for his leadership during the 2025-26 Wisconsin Legislative Session on legislation to boost economic growth. His efforts at the State Capitol will help promote local housing development, strengthen Wisconsin’s workforce, and drive community revitalization. The award was presented to Rep. Udell by local WEDA members in Fitchburg, WI.

“Recognizing Rep. Udell with the WEDA Champion of Economic Development Award was an easy decision. His work on key policies and programs to encourage housing development and community revitalization across Wisconsin is laudable, and we were excited to thank him for his work,” said Michael Welsh, WEDA V.P. of Legislative Affairs. “The legislation he sponsored and supported during the 2025-26 session will have a real impact in the 47^th Assembly District and in communities throughout the state.”

Rep. Udell earned WEDA’s Champion of Economic Development Award for his work on legislation to address some of the state’s biggest economic challenges and provide communities with the tools to drive local economic activity. His work on key legislative proposals included the improvement of local financing tools for residential infrastructure and housing development, as well as stronger incentives for main street revitalization and community development.

“It is an honor to receive this award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Association,” said. Rep. Udell. “I will continue to support investments into local development, regional growth, and community investment to help District 47 thrive.”

Rep. Udell, who was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2024, serves on several key legislative committees, including the Assembly Financial Institutions Committee, as well as the Foresty, Park and Outdoor Recreation Committee. He represents the 47^th Assembly District, which lies entirely in Dane County and includes the cities of Fitchburg and Stoughton. Rep. Udel is a former member of the Fitchburg City Council and Dane County Board of Supervisors.
