Willie Smith Elected to Wisconsin Economic Development Association Board of Directors

Madison, WI –The Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) has elected Willie Smith to its Board of Directors. Smith currently serves as Executive Director of the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation (NWSCDC) in Milwaukee. The Board election took place last week at WEDA’s Governor’s Conference on Economic Development, which was held in Milwaukee, WI.

“As I step into my role on the WEDA Board as the Executive Director of NWSCDC, I am filled with enthusiasm and purpose. Joining this esteemed board allows me to actively contribute to meaningful economic development initiatives that empower our communities and benefit the entire state of Wisconsin,” said Smith. “I am eager to collaborate with my fellow board members to drive innovative solutions and strengthen workforce development, with the ultimate goal of creating a sustainable future that enriches every corner of our great state.”

Smith, who has worked for the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation since 2013, including the last five years as the organization’s executive director, brings a tremendous amount of economic development experience to the WEDA Board. Prior to his work with NWSCDC, Smith enjoyed a successful career in commercial real estate. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Cardinal Strich University.
